Established in 1974, the UCLA women’s basketball team quickly made its mark. Under the leadership of head coach Billie Moore, the Bruins clinched the AIAW National Championship in 1978, defeating Maryland 90–74 at Pauley Pavilion. Transition to the NCAA

Ann Meyers Drysdale
Ann Meyers was a trailblazer in women’s basketball. She became the first female athlete at UCLA to receive a full athletic scholarship and was a four-time All-American. Notably, she recorded the first quadruple-double in NCAA Division I history. Her contributions were pivotal in securing the 1978 national championship.
Denise Curry
Denise Curry’s tenure at UCLA was marked by consistent excellence. She maintained a double-figure scoring streak in all 130 games she played, averaging 24.6 points per game. Her remarkable performance earned her three Kodak All-American honors between 1979 and 1981.
Natalie Williams
A dual-sport athlete, Natalie Williams earned All-America honors in both basketball and volleyball. She averaged a career double-double with 20.4 points and 12.8 rebounds per game, leaving an indelible mark on UCLA’s athletic history.
